Walsh’s latest book is “Through the Lens: The Pandemic and Black Lives Matter” (2022). Other works include “Conversations on Conflict Photography” (2019) and “Shadow of Memory” (2021, co-author). She co-edited “The Future of Text and Image: Collected Essays on Literary and Visual Conjunctures” (2012) and “The Millennium Villages Project” (2016), and edited “Macondo: Memories of the Colombian Conflict” (2017). Walsh contributes to mainstream and academic journals, appears on CNN, Al Jazeera, BBC, radio, podcasts, and documentaries, and serves on photojournalism boards.

Walsh leads national media literacy curricula, directs visual literacy initiatives globally, and lectures on ethics, safety, and mental health for journalists. She specializes in conflict photography and peace journalism, awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award from NYU and holds a PhD from Columbia University.
